Cold Coffee Recipes for a Hot Summer Day
Many coffee drinkers resort to the iced versions as summertime arrives. A variety of iced coffee recipes have been shared all over the globe, but the ones you'll find here are a bit more adventurous. There's an art to making a scrumptious cup of cold coffee, which involves some little tricks and a few special ingredients. The best way to enjoy these coffee drink recipes? Don't try them alone. Invite your friends over. Offer some to your neighbors. Or just put two straws in your coffee mug and share it with your dearest one. As popularly appreciated as tea and wine, coffee is a worldwide culture. It not only keeps sleepyheads awake but can also add more warmth to a conversation circle as well as complement a perfect meal. So don't let your spirit get dried out by the heat. Perk it up with a good cup of cold coffee.
Rum Coffee Smoothie
Cold Coffee Recipe - Rum Coffee Smoothie
This easy smoothie with a pizzazz is pretty satisfying and energizing. The coffee grants you a little caffeine kick while the banana adds a load of nutrients to the cup. As for the yumminess factor, the combination of coffee ice-cream and dark rum lends a very sophisticated yet comforting taste.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup brewed coffee (chilled), 1/2 cup coffee ice-cream, 1 tbsp. dark rum, 1 medium banana (sliced)
Preparation: Combine all the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Top with whipped cream or ground cinnamon if you desire.
My Twist: Serve it with a few tiramisu cookies. They pair together awesomely!
Coffee Float
Cold Coffee Recipe - Coffee Float
If someone told me the first soda float was invented by a ten-year-old child, I would probably think that makes a lot of sense. The whole idea of dumping ice-cream in a glass of soda sounds like something a kid would do just for fun. As childish as it might sound, I still love all types of floats, especially this one. It is a whimsical drink with a serious flavor.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup brewed coffee (chilled), 1 cup Coke or Pepsi, 1 big scoop of coffee ice-cream
Preparation: Put brewed coffee into a tall glass, add ice-cream and then soda.
My Twist: Top it with some shaved chocolate. If coffee, soda, ice-cream and chocolate are your guilty pleasures, just enjoy them all together in one cup and face your guilts later all at once.
Espresso Martini
Cold Coffee Recipe - Espresso Martini
This coffee cocktail might yield two different results. It could either cool you down or make a hot day even more "sizzling." It's a pretty wild drink, all right.
Ingredients: 1 ounce vodka, 1/2 ounce Kahlua, 1 ounce espresso, 1 ounce white creme de cacao, ice cubes (enough to fill the cocktail shaker)
Preparation: Put ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Add the rest of the ingredients and shake well. Strain and garnish with coffee beans (optional).
My Twist: Add about 1/2 teaspoon of butterscotch extract to it. Its sweet scent nicely balances the solemn flavor of vodka and Kahlua, and at the same time, does not clash with the coffee taste. Unless you hate butterscotch, you will find this twist quite delightful.
