Several years back, women used to have limited opportunities to be educated and didn't even have the right to vote. Being a wife and a mother seemed to be the only answer for most adult females. As for women nowadays, life contains endless opportunities and choices. There are a great number of women's rights groups that raise funds and offer support for women in all areas of living. Education is one of the main assets most women's organizations try to promote. Here's a list of scholarships for women. Some of these scholarships are available for only certain ethnic groups. Some may cover particular fields of study. And some are offered to students residing in specific areas.
Scholarships for Female Minorities
American Foundation of University Women, Honolulu Branch Educational Fund
The organization provides fellowships for women who are legal residents of Hawaii and non-American women from Asia and the Pacific. Foreman Fleisher Trust

Jewish Foundation for Education of Women
The foundation provides scholarships for low-income Jewish women residing in New York City. The scholarship money can be used for only certain fields of study including arts, medicine, social work and teaching. Visit http://www.jfew.org for further information.
Kaiulani Home for Girls Trust
The scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students of Hawaiian ancestry, residing in Hawaii. Scholarships are renewable. Matheson Gas Products Foundation
Eligible candidates must be female minorities (African-American, Asian, Latino) and graduate students majoring in science-related fields such as chemistry, physics, chemical engineering and semiconductor engineering, etc. Contact the foundation at 959 Rte. 46 E., Parsippany, NJ 07054.
Ida M. Pope Memorial Scholarship Fund
The foundation offers scholarships to full-time undergraduate and graduate students of Hawaiian ancestry. Scholarships are renewable if candidates maintain a satisfactory GPA. Contact the foundation at (808) 842 - 8216.
Max C. Rosenfeld Trust

Society of Daughters of Holland Dames
Eligible candidates are women of Dutch descent, attending accredited colleges or universities in the U.S. and being in their junior or senior year. Proof of Dutch ancestry is required upon application. Visit http://www.hollanddames.org/index.html for more information.
Benjamin N. Webber Charitable Private Foundation

Scholarships for Women in Specific Fields of Study
AEI Scholarship Fund
AEI provides scholarships for female students attending medical schools in the U.S. Applicants must have net income of less than $15,000 a year and maintain at least a C+ average. For more information, call (734) 741 - 6530.
Allman Medical Scholarship Foundation
The Allman Medical scholarships are for women pursuing careers in medicine. But here's the catch; since the foundation is run by the Miss America Pageant, eligible applicants are those who have participated in a Miss America competition. For more information, visit the Miss America website.
Blanch L. Dawson Nursing Scholarship Fund

Medical Research Foundation, Inc.

The Rachel Royston Permanent Scholarship Foundation

General Women's Scholarships
The Business and Professional Women's Foundation

William F. Cooper Scholarship Trust
